We are currently seeking a highly creative and collaborative Digital Content Coordinator who will be responsible for the planning, coordination and production of relevant and engaging science focussed editorial content that informs, inspires and engages audiences in STEM.

In this role you will:

  • Write, coordinate, edit and proof content for digital products and services, including fact checking for Particle and Scitech.
  • Manage contractors to ensure relevant digital content is produced for Particle and Scitech in line with overall objectives.
  • Coordinate and maintain content across digital platforms using WordPress, MailChimp, Google Analytics and other digital tools for Particle and Scitech.
  • Maintain current understanding of and adhere to copyright laws, rules and regulations in relation to digital content creation.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Digital Content Coordinator to oversee the Particle editorial on a maximum-term part-time 0.6 basis, until December 31 2025.

What is Particle?

Particle is Scitech's independent content hub that connects young adults to science stories from Western Australia and beyond. Through articles, podcasts, video and activations, Particle celebrates the science that happens in WA and the research and innovation that affects Western Australia.

About the role:

This is a graduate position, managing the freelance writers and coordinate the editorial workflow for Particle.

Working with the Manager of Digital Content and the Senior Digital Content Producer, the Digital Content Coordinator will also oversee other areas of the Particle content suite including newsletter publication and social media. The Digital Content Coordinator will also be responsible for building strong relationships with our pool of freelance writers, aligned organisations and the broader scientific community.

The right candidate will have strong editorial skills, with experience in crafting stories that engage our target audience while still adhering to journalistic and scientific practices.

Other skills and experience required includes:

  • Experience in science communication, digital media communication and/or writing and editing
  • Tertiary qualifications in education, science, communication, science communication, digital media, broadcasting, journalism or writing & editing.
  • Understanding of copyright laws, rules and regulations in relation to digital content creation.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and editorial skills, including the ability to represent the Scitech and Particle tone of voice across a variety of formats and audiences and adhere to internal style guides across content formats.
