Clinical Research Nurse – Anaesthesia and Pain Management

Royal Melbourne Hospital

  • Work as part of our research nurse team on important and interesting single-centre and multi-centre clinical studies.
  • Join the vibrant Melbourne Biomedical Precinct and collaborate with national and international researchers.
  • Support medical research that saves lives, helps patients to achieve better outcomes and makes surgery as safe as possible.
  • Part time role - 48 hours per fortnight - fixed term to January 2026.

The Department of Anaesthesia and Pain Management (DAPM) at the Royal Melbourne Hospital is committed to improving outcomes for adult patients having major surgery. Our team of research nurses works closely with anaesthetists and other clinicians to ensure that we meet our research targets and achieve the best possible experience for patients who participate in our research. Our exciting multicentre projects include ROCKet, TRIGS, SNaPP and LOLIPOP.

Your new role:  

  • Partner with DAPM researchers and research nurses to undertake single centre and multicentre studies in anaesthesia, perioperative medicine and pain medicine.
  • Work with the DAPM research team to ensure that ethics, regulatory and governance requirements are met.
  • Help build our team through a personal commitment to ongoing learning and by supporting DAPM students and staff in their research endeavours.
  • Collaborate with University of Melbourne Department of Critical Care (DoCC) and Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) Clinical Trials Network (CTN) to build our network capability.

About you: 

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Experience in acute clinical nursing and/or clinical research in adult tertiary referral centres.
  • Qualifications in research, experience in research or a demonstrable interest in research.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
