  • Commencement Salary: $109,074 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About the Role

You will conduct research inspired by real world challenges for a number of academic and industry focussed research projects, in particular contributing to research projects in support of the Peter Teasdale Chair in Environmental Health Risk Assessment.

Reporting to the Professorial Lead, you will design, perform and record experimental work. This will involve communicating research outcomes in various forms, ensuring the delivery of research milestones on time, making contributions to journal publications and demonstrating a high standard of professional behaviour.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • A PhD qualification in a relevant discipline
  • Demonstrated research productivity in modelling microbial and/or chemical risks
  • Ability to apply Bayesian approaches to describe causal links across multi-sector environmental problems
  • Evidence of participation in external activities such as industry or community engagement relevant to environmental risk assessments
  • Record of independent research resulting in high-quality publications and evidence of growing citation impact

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience with Bayesian statistics and in developing Bayes Nets (to interpret influence diagrams) or systems modelling approaches (e.g. agent-based models, system dynamics etc.)
  • Experience in interpreting microbiological research relevant to environmental management
  • Professional experience with industry (across environmental, agribusiness or food sectors)
  • A record of obtaining research income
  • Experience with public or industry engagements (e.g., focus group solicitations)
