Play a pivotal role to ensure the CSIRO Strategy is successfully executed! As Senior Strategy & Market Analyst, you will play a lead role in scoping, project managing and delivering market and business insight to CSIRO leaders undertaking strategy and planning projects.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong business strategy, market analysis skills and excellent communication and report writing skills. You will thrive in this position if you are comfortable leading and facilitating discussions, and an enthusiastic and motivated team player.

This is a significant position, reporting into the Strategy Function which sits within the Office of the Chief Executive. The group delivers a range of services related to strategy, planning, program, and performance management to CSIRO leaders including the Board and the Executive Team.  

Your duties will include:

  • Liaising with clients to determine their strategy development process, identifying market and business research needs, tailoring solutions, and delivering critical reports of varying size and scale.  
  • Under limited direction, using technical expertise to lead projects and leveraging available resources to achieve results.
  • Quickly gathering, understanding, analysing, and synthesising information from disparate sources into detailed, logical, evidence-based insights and conclusions that guide strategy conversations.
  • Succinctly and professionally communicating complex business, scientific and technical concepts to clients. Providing briefing and advise to senior executives.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues within the team, the business unit and across CSIRO to reach objectives. Establishing networks with other teams and professionals in their field.
  • Communicating openly, effectively and respectfully with all staff, clients and suppliers in the interests of good business practice, collaboration and enhancement of CSIRO’s reputation.

Location: CSIRO Sites in Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane
Salary: AU $105,806 - $114,500 plus up to 15.4% superannuation
Tenure: Specified term of 2 years

To be considered you will need:

  • A degree in a relevant discipline such as Science, Engineering, Business or Relations, Economics, Finance, or related fields.
  • Professional experience in business, government, science, or innovation related activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to facilitate conversations.
  • Practice in using market research and business analysis tools to rapidly source, evaluate, synthesis and analyse a broad range of business, technical and economic data to form relevant business insights.
  • Skilled in developing and/or applying business analysis and strategic analysis frameworks (i.e., value chain analysis).
  • Experience generating professional quality reports (PowerPoint and Word) and deliverables that clearly communicate key insights to a senior executive-level audience.
    Strong project management and stakeholder management skills in end-to-end project delivery.
