We are currently looking for a Director People and Culture Business Partnering, to join our organisation in the role of Director People and Culture Business Partnering, to support our Finance and Legal Teams. This role is based at our Headquarters in Macquarie Park and will support a Global team as they embark on their transformation journey.
Cochlear is undertaking significant organisation transformation to grow the business, enabling more people to hear and be heard. The Finance function will be part of this transformation journey. Additionally Cochlear has recently announced the appointment of a new, inspiring and talented CFO. This is a role for a strategically minded, commercial business partner to support the leaders of these functions make decisions that support the short, medium and long-term commercial needs of the business, partnering with global Centres of Expertise (COE) to shape processes, platforms, and initiatives to achieve short- and medium-term business objectives and create a working environment that attracts, develops, and retains talented people.
This role is initially a fixed term contract until June 2026
Responsibilities include:
- Shape the organisation – develop integrated workforce strategies and a human capital plan for the function or region to support the achievement of medium- and longer-term enterprise goals.
- Drive a growth culture with clear accountability for performance by partnering with the People & Culture Centres of Expertise and Service and Experience
- Identify strategic capabilities and develop plans to grow these capabilities enabling leaders to fully engage employees in their performance and development.
- Working with the business unit leadership team, lead the development of workforce strategies and plans to ensure the business has the strategic capabilities to grow the market, ensure the workforce is equipped to meet the business goals and is continuously improving its performance.
- Leverage deep business understanding and commercial acumen to ensure that the workforce strategy is competitive and sustainable and aligned with external trends and issues (including, but not limited to, industrial relations, sustainability, work life balance, local competitive pressures) and Cochlear’s strategic business priorities.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of appropriate diagnostics to assess change impacts to inform change plans, priorities, and communication plans.

Essential:
- Tertiary qualified in Human Resources/Business/Psychology or Organisational Development.
- The ability to focus and add value on the outcomes that make a material difference, for business performance.
- Demonstrable skills in diagnosing issues at a systems level in an environment where cause and effect are not always apparent.
- Experience in developing and upskilling leadership teams and the wisdom and judgement required to proactively consult to those teams.
- Demonstrated track record of leading and managing transformational change initiatives.
- Experience with change management, with demonstrated success in delivering effective engagement strategies, learning and development and communications.
- Experienced in a sophisticated and complex business environment where maintaining its competitiveness and growth has been as a direct result of its successful people programs.
- Significant time in a P&C Business Partner role with strong client focus where problem solving, and judgement have been key in overcoming hurdles and sustaining continuous improvement in business performance in additional functional depth in one or more COEs.
- Evidence of strong contributions to a global People & Culture function
- Strong team player and collaborator, with the ability to leverage all elements of the P&C operating model to deliver outcomes which positively impact business performance.
Ideal:
- Master’s degree in business
- Experience working in a highly process driven, complex, global business environment.
