Our client, an Australian Family-owned Tropical Fruit success story, takes pride in their sustainable farming practices and continuous commitment to excellence. Their operations span between Tully and Lakelands where they grow approximately 3600 hectares of tropical fruit and sugar cane.
Focusing predominantly on Banana production, they have a holistic approach to farm management and are seeking an Agronomist to contribute to their sustained success and work on enhancing growing techniques and productivity of the farms.
  
Your Role

Reporting to the Group Agronomy Manager the Agronomist will play an integral role in improving growing techniques to maximise yields and quality of produce, with a focus on innovative solutions.

With the support from the existing team, you will assist in developing agronomic recommendations around irrigation, pruning, farm development, pollination, nutrition, harvest, and pest & disease management. On-the-job training is provided, making this is a truly unique opportunity to sharpen your horticultural skills and learn all growing facets of various tropical fruits.

With a practical and hands-on approach, your duties include but are not limited to:

• Conduct crop inspections, including pest & disease monitoring, soil moisture, plant nutrition, sampling of plant tissue and soil, etc.
• Assist with both internal and external research and development trials
• Keep abreast of the latest research, innovations and trends in tropical fruit production
• Maintain existing quality assurance (QA) systems and assist in the management and implementation of any new QA systems
• Maintain comprehensive records of relevant data and information
• Travel, when required, to other farms for work, meetings, training programs and company social events

This role is open to both experienced Agronomists and those looking to further develop their career in the field.  Whilst tertiary qualifications are preferred, they are not necessary, relevant work experience will be considered in the place of qualifications.
