Role Overview

As an Avionics Engineer at our early-stage technology company, you will play a pivotal role in developing and integrating advanced avionics systems for our uncrewed aircraft prototypes. This position requires a highly skilled individual who can effectively work across both the office environment and the manufacturing shop floor. You will be responsible for the design, testing, and implementation of avionics systems, ensuring they meet stringent performance, safety, and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and integrate avionics systems for our uncrewed aircraft, including navigation, communication, and control systems.
  • Perform testing and troubleshooting of avionics hardware and software to ensure system reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of avionics systems with other aircraft subsystems.
  • Develop and document avionics system specifications, schematics, and testing procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards for avionics systems.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of manufacturing processes and tooling for avionics components.
  • Support the transition of avionics systems from prototype to production, ensuring all regulatory and performance standards are met.

Required Experience and Skills

  • Proven experience in the design, development, and integration of avionics systems for aerospace applications.
  • Strong background in avionics hardware and software, including experience with embedded systems and real-time operating systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience with avionics design tools and software.

Desired Experience

  • Familiarity with aerospace standards and regulations. 
  • Experience with flight control systems and communication protocols (e.g., ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553).
  • Knowledge of safety-critical systems and software verification and validation processes.
  • Ability to obtain AGSVA Security Clearance – Baseline (or existing clearance).
