New Institute to underpin public sector innovation
The Australian National Institute for Public Policy launched at the Australian National University today unites the strengths of a world-leading public service and a world-class university.
Innovation Minister Senator Kim Carr said the Australian Government’s $112.7 million investment in the Institute would strengthen public policy capabilities across the Australian Public Service.
The new Institute brings together a rich mix of established and new schools and centres at the ANU, the HC Coombs Policy Forum, and a partnership with the Australia and New Zealand School of Government.
"This mix will provide public servants with input from academics and other policy experts. It will promote public involvement in policy debate and catalyse inter-disciplinary research in areas of critical national interest," Senator Carr said.
The Institute is a key response to a recommendation in Ahead of the Game: Blueprint for Reform of Australian Government Administration, released last year.
